UNBOWED

I was taking a walk today...and I met a soldier
Matching forward...confidently
So tiny yet so unbowed...uncowed
The weight he was carrying could very well be twice his own weight...
He marched forward...unbowed!

I tried to say hi...got no response...I suppose that makes sense,he looked so focused and busy
Wisely storing up food for the future...
Powerful in his own right, though tiny he might be
I have heard he will fight to the death before giving up,and in floods will fight to stay afloat...
He marched forward...unbowed!

I watched him march on...
As he neared the grass at the edge of the footpath, I arose
I rose up from my squat...like a phoenix rising from the ashes
I could feel new strength,joy,courage,hope and a new fire lighting up in me,I stood tall...
I marched forward...unbowed!

His Eyes Told Me So...

Had lived most of his life that man...had a dog called Bobby...
As i sat on that comfy seat i looked into his weary octogenarian eyes as he looked in the distance...

I followed his eyes to see for myself what he stared at in that way...
But where he looked was only a glass window...and a "normal" tree outside...

I turned to him again...
He still looked outside...

Bobby had moved up to him...
He stared right into the man's eyes...his tail wagged...as he rubbed his head against the man's knee...

I touched Bobby...rubbed his neck...
The man still stared outside...i did not look at him now...i fixated my eyes on Bobby's black fur...

I remember the glass coffee table,the white fluffy carpet,Bobby's black fur,that window...his eyes,wrinkly yet strong,strong yet weak,like a soldier who had fought his wars,a man who had lived his life...and i could feel tears well up in my eyes...

His eyes spoke - A wordless speech:  "LIVE YOUR LIFE"
